Plaster recycling with or without insulation backing

Gypsum recycling

NANTET LOCABENNES has been developing waste recovery solutions for several years.

In 2011, NANTET LOCABENNES became a pioneer in the plaster waste treatment by establishing the very first French recycling facility dedicated to this type of waste in Savoie.

This patented equipment, installed at our Francin/Porte-de-Savoie sorting center, is capable of recycling plaster waste—whether or not it is mixed with insulation materials such as expanded polystyrene, glass wool, or rock wool—as well as paper, metal, or tile residues. Thanks to this system, which incorporates several mechanical and physical processes, the gypsum is separated from the other materials.

This prepared product is then shipped to industrial partners, who use it primarily as a raw material Placoplâtre® Chambéry where it accounts for 25% of the material used in the manufacture of new gypsum boards.

In 2023, 45,000 metric tons of plaster waste from construction and demolition sites and local recycling centers were transported to our facility for recycling. With more than 90% of the plaster waste recycled, our recycling program has grown so significantly that a second recycling center was established in 2021 in the Paris region (PARIPLATRE). The new facility, built in Quincy-Voisins, recycles nearly 45,000 metric tons of waste per year.

Whether in Seine-et-Marne or Savoie, local recycling leads to real savings in energy and transportation and actively contributes to the conservation of natural resources.
